Starbucks.PH 1

Starbucks needs no further introduction.  Even a small child knows Starbucks with its logo alone.  With its branches worldwide, it is no surprise that the Philippines is part of the bandwagon. In fact, it is already part of most people’s everyday life… a place to chat with friends, to meet with family members, to conduct a small meeting, to treat a colleague, to study for lessons in school, or just to enjoy a cup of coffee.  It has become a status symbol.

Recently, some branches sprung up in strategic places.  Others have undergone renovation, which is part of the reason why I’m posting some photos and information. They came up with unique designs and concepts that I find interesting but still has the Starbucks trademark in it.  So once in a while, I will post branches I have visited.

Tim Hortons Manila: A Review

Curious about the hype created by Tim Hortons, I decided to check it out at their Ermita, Manila Branch.  Not surprisingly, there were lots of people lining up to get a taste of their famous coffee and donuts.  Since there are a lot of cafes and donut places here in the metro, I want to know what’s so special about Tim Hortons from Canada.

I ordered the Original Brewed Coffee (Make It A Tim Double Double, as recommended by their staff), two Signature Donuts (Boston Creme and Honey Cruller), Steak and Cheese Panini, Honey Lemon Tea, and Potato Wedges.

I love their coffee!  It had a light and smooth touch on my tongue.  There was no coffee aftertaste especially after a light burp, which was usually present in some local coffees. Same feedback on the tea.  It was light and smooth as well.  Just an observation though, I felt so sleepy after drinking the coffee.  Did they put something in it to make me relax? *kidding*  Perhaps next time, I need to order a Black Original Brew.  I prefer a strong flavored coffee anyway.

The two donuts I chose were too sweet for my liking, though I’m sure some would prefer it that way.  I had to order the potato wedges to balance the taste.  No complaints on the steak and cheese panini.  It was delicious!  I recommend it.

Tim Hortons currently has two branches:  Ermita, Manila and Uptown Place Mall, BGC.  Another branch will be opening soon in Eastwood City, Libis, QC.

What’s also great about this cafe? It’s open for 24 hours.  So if you need a coffee fix in the wee hours of the morning, then you have a place to go to.

Have you already tried Tim Hortons?  Please feel free to leave a comment.
